One of the ways we do that is by growing in serving others. This new series entitled, &#8220;<em><strong>Helping with Wisdom<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; will help you cultivate eyes to see the hurting and develop a heart of compassion that meets needs in a wise manner.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Week 1: John\u00a09 &#8211; Helping others is about seeing needs (and assets)<\/li>\n<li>Week 2: John 4:1-42 &#8211; Helping others is not about you<\/li>\n<li>Week 3: Acts 3:1-11 &#8211; Helping is not about hurting<\/li>\n<li>Week 4: Luke 10:25-37 &#8211; You can help&#8230; with God&#8217;s help!<\/li>\n<li>Week 5: Case Study<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Sunday<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=john+9&amp;version=NASB\" target=\"_blank\">John 9<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Helping others is about seeing needs (and assets)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here is an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RMw7zDr5JLo\" target=\"_blank\">intriguing video<\/a> of how we don&#8217;t always have eyes to see the hurting, even when we presumably should have eyes to see.<\/p>\n<p>As you read John 9 and recognize that Jesus had eyes to see needs and then had compassion on them, please think about the following discussion questions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>How would you respond to a person who would say \u201cI see needs around me, but I don\u2019t <u>feel<\/u> compassion.\u00a0 What\u2019s wrong with me?\u201d\u00a0 Is it possible to have compassion without deep feelings?<\/li>\n<li>How would you respond to a person who would say \u201cI see people in need around me, but they\u2019ve made so many bad choices.\u00a0 They don\u2019t deserve compassion &#8212; they deserve rebuke and judgment and maybe even punishment.\u00a0 Perhaps that will wake them up!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>How would you respond to the person who says \u201cOK, I have compassion for this situation, \u00a0I just have no idea what to do about it!\u201d?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Extra credit:\u00a0<strong>Matthew 9:35-38,\u00a0Matthew 14:14,\u00a0Mark 6:34, Luke 7:12-15, Luke 10:33, Luke 15:20 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Sign up if you would like to have the Faith Church ABF Series automatically emailed to you when posted:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.faithlafayette.org\/abfseries\">www.faithlafayette.org\/abfseries<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview In our Adult Bible Fellowships\u00a0we\u00a0seek to grow closer to the Lord and each other.
