Review<\/h2>\n

In our Adult Bible Fellowships<\/a>\u00a0we have observed in 1 Samuel Chapters 2-3 that God is a God of Grace and Judgment. We see that in the contrast with Eli\u2019s sons and Samuel. The sons are sinning in a very public way, yet God is faithfully raising up a prophet, and the Lord will have His word break through in a way that gets everyone’s attention.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Learn to look for God\u2019s work in quiet ways rather than seeking the dramatic.<\/li>\n
  2. Recognize God\u2019s word is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. We need both<\/li>\n
  3. Be thankful God is patient with his servants as they seek to know Him.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In preparation for our lesson on Sunday please read the section listed above and make note what stands out to you in the narrative. Is there any repetition, is there any dialogue that seems particularly significant etc. Then please think about the following discussion questions.<\/p>\n

    1. What is the difference between how Hannah responds to the Lord in her trouble and how the Elders respond to the Lord in the initial defeat.<\/li>\n
    2. How do we tend to try to manipulate God, or try to control him and use Him for our purposes?<\/li>\n
    3. Do you see any irony in the result of Israel taking the Ark?<\/li>\n
    4. How can 1 Samuel help you live for Jesus this week?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
