We have enjoyed some exciting ministry opportunities during the first two nights of Vacation Bible School this year. \u00a0So far, the Lord has allowed us to reach an average of over 560 children, the highest VBS attendance in our church’s history.<\/p>\n
More importantly, we have already witnessed a lot of\u00a0meaningful discipleship. Below\u00a0are\u00a0a couple of brief testimonies\u00a0from VBS servants describing\u00a0the ways kids have been\u00a0impacted through this year’s\u00a0outreach.<\/p>\n
We had several kids tell us that they have no Bible in their home and ask for a Bible, which they, of course, received. One girl said that she has never been in a church before. One boy came to me at the end of the night to return the Bible, thinking it was just for the evening. I asked him if he would read it if I let him keep it. His eyes shone as he said yes. When his dad picked him up, he proudly showed him the Bible that he received. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n I later learned that another 5th Grade student had really reached out to him\u00a0throughout the evening and made him feel welcome and accepted. I can\u2019t help but think that in this boy’s\u00a0mind there was some connection between how loved he felt and how excited he was to receive God\u2019s Word.\u00a0I can\u2019t help but think that in this boy’s\u00a0mind there was some connection between how loved he felt and how excited he was to receive God\u2019s Word. My heart was full when I left last evening. One young lady\u00a0had been asking for a Bible stating she didn\u2019t have one of her own. When she was handed one yesterday, she clung on to it, she was so happy, her heart was full and she couldn\u2019t stop talking about it. Because she was happy, some of the other children were happy for her and started assisting her with how to look up scriptures in the Bible.\u00a0 She was so excited about knowing now where the memory verses were.<\/em><\/p>\n Another one of our students during the Bible lesson at the end of the day got up and asked me \u201cWhat is Faith?\u201d\u00a0 I took her by the hand to the back of the group to explain to her and followed up to make sure she understood. These children \u2018are\u2019 listening, they\u2019re hearing and growing, and it is so exciting to see.\u00a0These children \u2018are\u2019 listening, they\u2019re hearing and growing, and it is so exciting to see.\u00a0My grandson is excited every night to attend, his eyes shine as we enter the doors. The children with their hands raised during praise and worship–there is nothing like it.<\/em><\/p>\n My heart has been full even when coming into work this morning.
