The following article by\u00a0Stacy Clardie<\/a>\u00a0is the sixth\u00a0in a series<\/a> that\u00a0shares our Pastors’ testimonies of how the Lord led them to serve at Faith Church.<\/em><\/p>\n

Josh Greiner was sure public service was his future.<\/p>\n

The Air Force ROTC program seemed the right fit, but then he suffered what he believed at the time was a brain aneurysm \u2014 it wasn\u2019t, ultimately \u2014 and that led to him being dropped.<\/p>\n

And started the tailspin.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went from \u2018I know exactly what I want to do for my entire life\u2019 to \u2018I have no idea what I want to do with my life,\u2019 \u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Greiner attended Purdue, searching for that answer, and found himself caught up in a life of sin. He\u2019d still go to church on Sundays, bouncing from place to place, but was aimless.<\/p>\n

By the summer of 2006, though, \u201ceverything just kind of started coming down in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy life was falling apart. I was miserable, partying,\u201d Greiner said. \u201cI knew I wasn\u2019t\u00a0supposed to be living this way but saw no way out.\u201d<\/p>\n

So he reached out to Faith\u2019s Steve Viars after he\u2019d heard about the church\u2019s counseling ministry. Soon after, Greiner started counseling with Pastor Brent Aucoin on Mondays at 5:15 p.m., which lasted through the summer.<\/p>\n

It changed Greiner\u2019s heart and his purpose.<\/p>\n

A trip to London that included an internship at the House of Parliament and studying at London School of Economics only solidified that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I learned over there was you have to give your life to this. No family, no kids, no church,\u201d Greiner said. \u201cYou can\u2019t be involved in any of that stuff because being in politics takes 100 percent of your time. I want(ed) a family. I want(ed) to be involved in church. So I came back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having completed counseling training, Greiner was eagerly taking on more cases, asking Aucoin for more slots.<\/p>\n

Finally, Aucoin asked Greiner if he\u2019d ever thought about ministry as a career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had really kind of discounted that because most of my strengths are administrative type strengths. They\u2019re not necessarily, \u2018Open up your Bible to page 115 and let me give you a three-point sermon.\u2019 But Brent began talking with me about that because he just saw I just wanted to do more and more discipleship of people,\u201d Greiner said. \u201cI came through the counseling ministry so I wanted to give to those what I had been given.\u201d

Greiner entered the seminary program and then landed on staff at Faith to fill the newly created director of Faith West Community Center and pastor of Faith West Community Ministries.<\/p>\n

And though Greiner stays busy with the administrative work of running the West-side community center, counseling still is his passion, and fills that need every Monday.\u00a0\u201cI love meeting people for that one-on-one thing,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ll preach when I\u2019m asked \u2014 I enjoy it. But counseling is my biggest passion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greiner and his wife, Shana, have a son, Winston, and a\u00a0daughter, Cecilia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
