\"AncientI browsed the Gospel Coalition site earlier today and noticed that they posted some of D.A. Carson’s video contributions<\/a> (included below) to\u00a0The Ehrman Project<\/a>.\u00a0 Scholars such as D. A. Carson, Dan Wallace, and many others are responding to the claims of Bart Ehrman.<\/p>\n

Bart Ehrman is a scholar who teaches at the University of North Carolina.\u00a0 He is a graduate of Wheaton and Princeton.\u00a0 He is an expert in a NT field of study called textual criticism (simply stated, this area evaluates existing Greek manuscripts prior to the invention of the printing press in order to determine the original text of Scripture) having done his work under the legendary textual critic Bruce Metzger.\u00a0 In an interview conducted by the Biblical Archaeological Society, Ehrman admitted that they he no longer holds to the veracity of the Bible and believes that Jesus was a man who lived, was crucified, and rotted in his grave (BAR, Mar\/Apr 2007, 50-57).\u00a0 He has written numerous books; some of them are very scholarly like his volume The Orthodox Corruption of Scripture<\/em> while others are written for a popular audience such as Lost Scriptures<\/em> and Misquoting Jesus<\/em>.\u00a0 The goal, however, appears to be the same \u2013 cast doubt on the trustworthiness of the Bible.<\/p>\n
