{"id":1348,"date":"2011-04-14T10:58:16","date_gmt":"2011-04-14T14:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.fbclafayette.org\/?p=1348"},"modified":"2011-12-12T09:27:48","modified_gmt":"2011-12-12T14:27:48","slug":"how-ive-been-blessed-by-living-life-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.faithlafayette.org\/church\/how-ive-been-blessed-by-living-life-together\/","title":{"rendered":"How I&#8217;ve Been Blessed by &#8216;Living Life Together&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1357\" title=\"How-Ive-Been-Blessed-by-Living-Life-Together\" src=\"https:\/\/faith-blog-assets.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/20170523133735\/How-Ive-Been-Blessed-by-Living-Life-Together-e1302708011288.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/faith-blog-assets.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/20170523133735\/How-Ive-Been-Blessed-by-Living-Life-Together-e1302708011288.jpg 540w, https:\/\/faith-blog-assets.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/20170523133735\/How-Ive-Been-Blessed-by-Living-Life-Together-e1302708011288-300x97.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www1.faithlafayette.org\/about\/our_plans\/church_initiatives\/\">This year\u2019s theme<\/a> has been my favorite annual theme \u2013 and I have been around for 8 of them.\u00a0 The primary reason I have enjoyed this theme is that it has really resulted in great blessing.\u00a0 Here are just a few of the blessings that I&#8217;ve received.<\/p>\n<h2>Focusing on God\u2019s Work in People&#8217;s Lives<\/h2>\n<p>To some degree, I get this as a pastor all the time.\u00a0 However, this theme has just brought more focus to the subject.\u00a0 Here are a few of my favorite stories so far this year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I know of several different couples that God has rescued from the world of childlessness.\u00a0 God\u2019s deliverance has come both in \u201csurprise\u201d pregnancies and in adoptions, but either way, His work has been awesome!<\/li>\n<li>A car accident put a young child in serious danger of death.\u00a0 I remember crying with a friend over this situation on the phone and asking God to rescue this young one.\u00a0 Not more than a 48 hours later, God granted a miracle. \u00a0<!--more-->Today that child is doing much better.\u00a0 I experienced, albeit vicariously, God\u2019s precious love for another family.<\/li>\n<li>I could add story after story of God\u2019s work providing employment, meeting financial needs, granting grace in the face of hardship, and on and on the list could go.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>God was series when he said in Ephesians 3:14-21 that we cannot grasp the full dimensions of Christ\u2019s love by ourselves &#8211; and this theme has been allowing us to put particular focus on this together.<\/p>\n<h2>Learning More About the Hurts That People Carry<\/h2>\n<p>A second blessing from this year is that this theme has caused me to do more reflecting on the hurts that people carry.\u00a0 I was not ignorant of this issue before, but again it is a matter of focus.\u00a0 I have thought more, prayed for more, and hurt more for people who are experiencing great heartache.<\/p>\n<p>This helps me not complain as much &#8211; after all, my problems seem much smaller than those of my friends.\u00a0 This focus helps me be more thankful &#8211; I am richly blessed.\u00a0 This focus also helps me learn to suffer with people better.\u00a0 Learning to suffer with people is like riding a bike.\u00a0 You can be told about the mechanics, but there is nothing better than giving it a try.\u00a0 Even if you fall down a few times in the process, each bump and each bruise helps you serve better the next time.<\/p>\n<p>This theme and the focus that it is bringing are giving me such a great opportunity to really know people and the hurts that they carry.<\/p>\n<h2>Learning to Love and Appreciate the Lord More as He Blesses My Friends<\/h2>\n<p>A related and surprising blessing for me this year is that my love and appreciation for the Lord has grown.\u00a0 I have had some personal reasons why this would be true in the last 12 months.\u00a0 But maybe more than what I have experience in my life, I have been blessed by watching the Lord work in the lives of others.<\/p>\n<p>Truly David was right when he said in Psalm 63 \u201cbecause your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips will praise you.\u201d\u00a0 Learning to love and appreciate the Lord is a lifelong journey.\u00a0 I am so blessed to walk that journey with a group of people who are learning to love and appreciate Jesus too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How is it that the Living Life Together theme has been a blessing to you?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This year\u2019s theme has been my favorite annual theme \u2013 and I have been around for 8 of them.\u00a0 The primary reason I have enjoyed this theme is that it has really resulted in great blessing.\u00a0 Here are just a few of the blessings that I&#8217;ve received.
