Characterized by or expressing awe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What word do you see in this word?\u00a0 What does it mean?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Awe \u2013 as defined by Websters \u2013 1. Wonder and veneration somewhat mixed with fear. 2. Overwhelming admiration or appreciation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Psalm 33:8 \u2013 \u201cLet all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.\u201d<!--more--><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why would the Psalmist declare that the LORD deserves for us to \u201cstand in awe\u201d of Him?\u00a0 In verses 1-7, he is praising the Lord for the fact that he is the amazing Creator of everything!\u00a0 This is just a glimpse into His awesomeness so\u2026\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let\u2019s dig into a passage from the prophet Isaiah (<strong>Isaiah 40<\/strong>) that helps us get a glimpse of why we serve a God who can be rightly described as <strong>AWESOME<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p><strong>God is awesome because He \u2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>v1-8<\/strong> \u2013 wants to clear away any <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">obstacles<\/span><\/strong> that may block our ability to hear His Word.<\/li>\n<li><strong>v9-11<\/strong> \u2013 is still far above us even when we scale the highest <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">mountains<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 It is hard for us to comprehend, but it is true that he rules with a \u201c<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">strong arm<\/span><\/strong>\u201d but also cares for us like a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">shepherd<\/span><\/strong> with his other arm.<\/li>\n<li><strong>v12 <\/strong>\u2013 is the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Creator<\/span><\/strong>!<\/li>\n<li><strong>v13-14<\/strong> \u2013 has <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">wisdom<\/span><\/strong> that is beyond any man\u2019s comprehension!<\/li>\n<li><strong>v15-17<\/strong> \u2013 has absolute <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">authority<\/span><\/strong> over all nations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>v18-23<\/strong> \u2013 cannot be <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">duplicated<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 He is completely unique and all powerful.\u00a0 He can reduce rulers to nothing and we are like <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">grasshoppers<\/span><\/strong> in comparison to Him!<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>v24-26<\/strong> \u2013 is <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">transcenden<\/span>t<\/strong> above us.\u00a0 Yet\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>v27-31<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0 is also right here with us to give us <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">strength<\/span><\/strong> every day!<\/p>\n<p>This passage is just a mere glimpse of the awesomeness of God.\u00a0 Are you overwhelmed with the awesomeness of God?\u00a0 If not, you should be!<\/p>\n<p>Think about your life.\u00a0 Do you see the awesomeness of God evident in your life?\u00a0 Share this evidence with someone this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Put yourself in the prophet Isaiah\u2019s place for a second and recall the glorious scene he describes in Isaiah 6 (recall last week\u2019s discussion).\u00a0 Do you think it was a challenge to describe God\u2019s awesomeness in light of such amazing revelations?<\/p>\n<p>We have the Word of God (which will stand forever).\u00a0 This week in your devotional time, make a list of all of the ways you see God\u2019s awesomeness in His Word.\u00a0 Lift prayers of thanksgiving and praise to your Savior!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did you describe something or someone as \u201cawesome\u201d this week?\u00a0 Why did you use this word?
