Introduction:<\/strong>\u00a0 When was the last time you were completely moved by how great God is?<\/p>\n

Understanding who God is is crucial to the understanding of the greatness of the Gospel message.\u00a0 We will be studying God for 6 weeks.\u00a0 We will strive to understand better the complexities of His awesomeness and then be moved to understand how incredible it is that this incredible God moved to save us by giving up His own Son.<\/p>\n

Romans 11:33-36 (HCSB), \u201c<\/strong>Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God!\u00a0 How unsearchable His judgments and untraceable His ways!\u00a0 For who has known the mind of the Lord?\u00a0 Or who has been His counselor?\u00a0 Or who has ever first given to Him, and has to be repaid?\u00a0 <\/strong>For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.\u00a0 To Him be the glory forever. Amen\u201d<\/p>\n

We can never fully understand the complexities of our God, and would we really want to worship a God who was easily understandable?\u00a0 Let us look at one of the great features of our God.<\/p>\n

God the Great Creator<\/strong><\/p>\n

Turn to Genesis 1.\u00a0 Read Genesis 1:1-2:3.<\/p>\n

God Made Everything in 7 Literal Days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Day 1:\u00a0 God made the heavens and earth.\u00a0 The earth was dark and God made light.\u00a0 God called the light day and the darkness night.<\/p>\n

Day 2:\u00a0 God separated the water from the water and placed an expanse between the waters.\u00a0 God called the expanse water.<\/p>\n

Day 3: God gathered the sky in one place and let dry land appear.\u00a0 He called the land earth and the gathering of the waters He called seas.\u00a0 God made seed bearing plants and fruit trees.<\/p>\n

Day 4:\u00a0 God made 2 lights to separate the day and the night.\u00a0 God placed them in the sky to provide light on earth.<\/p>\n

Day 5:\u00a0 God made the sea creatures and birds.<\/p>\n

Day 6:\u00a0 God made all the rest of the animals.\u00a0 God made a man in His own image.\u00a0 He made man to rule over all the earth.<\/p>\n

God\u2019s greatness shining through His creation<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. God owns everything\n
      \n
    1. Psalm 50:10, \u201cFor every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      i.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is hard for us to understand the importance of this verse.\u00a0 In their culture the person who owned the most livestock was the richest person who had the ultimate control over the community.\u00a0 You could not plow your land without the cattle.\u00a0 You could not fertilize your crops without the cattle.\u00a0 So for God to be able to look out at every animal in every forest and on all cattle in the hills and to be able to yell out those are mine was significant to them.<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Deuteronomy 10:14, \u201cBehold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        i.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cAccording to the Scriptures, every sky on every planet in every solar system in every corner of the universe belongs to God.\u00a0 He is the owner and creator of them all and sovereign over them all.\u00a0 Nothing that exists belongs to anyone else other than God.\u201d Matt Chandler<\/p>\n

        ii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThere is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is sovereign over all, does not cry: \u2018Mine!\u2019\u201d Abraham Kuyper<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. God is completely self-sufficient in His creation.\n
            \n
          1. We cannot make anything without having the materials and skill necessary to make something.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            i.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If I was to make a house then I would have to the supplies given to me in order to convert them into a house.\u00a0 God makes His own material.<\/p>\n

            ii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If I was to paint a picture, someone would have to provide me with the supplies necessary to make a painting, but we would still be in trouble because I lack the skill.\u00a0 God speaks and things are creation.<\/p>\n
