{"id":640,"date":"2012-10-07T14:53:25","date_gmt":"2012-10-07T18:53:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.faithlafayette.org\/4twelve\/?p=640"},"modified":"2014-07-25T13:39:28","modified_gmt":"2014-07-25T17:39:28","slug":"are-you-ready-for-the-final-resurrection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.faithlafayette.org\/4twelve\/are-you-ready-for-the-final-resurrection\/","title":{"rendered":"Are You Ready for the Final Resurrection?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><strong>1 Corinthians 15:50-58<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">There are probably some Boy Scouts in our class today, so answer this question \u2013 What is the Boy Scout motto? <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Be Prepared<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Why is that an important motto to live by?\u00a0 Think about this situation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You just walked into science class, and you think your day is going pretty well until the teacher walks in the room and says, \u201cClass close your books and put everything under your desk except for a pencil and a piece of paper.\u00a0 We are having a pop quiz.\u201d\u00a0 This could be a good thing or a bad thing for you depending on how well you have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">prepared<\/span> for class.<\/li>\n<li>Have you ever been in this situation?\u00a0 How did things turn out?<!--more--><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do you realize that, spiritually speaking, every day we live our lives with the possibility of a \u201cpop quiz\u201d?\u00a0 Are you ready?<\/p>\n<p>Quick review of first couple weeks of Epic series:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>What is the gospel?\u00a0 (I Corinthians 15:1-10)<\/li>\n<li>The Resurrection (I Corinthians 15:12-34)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Read I Corinthians 15:50-58.\u00a0 What event is this passage describing?\u00a0 (related passages &#8211; John 14:1-3; I Thessalonians 4:13-5:11)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0Because of Christ\u2019s resurrection, believers have the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hope<\/span> of resurrection as well.<\/li>\n<li>At any <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">moment<\/span>, Jesus may call His church to Himself.\u00a0 This includes those believers that have not physically died yet.<\/li>\n<li>Believers have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">victory<\/span> over death through Jesus Christ.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Verse 58 summarizes the application of this passage.\u00a0 Given the truth and the hope of the resurrection and the rapture of the church, everyday as believers in Christ, we can\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be steadfast.\u00a0 What does it mean to be steadfast?<\/li>\n<li>Be immovable.\u00a0 Why is this important to the Christian life?<\/li>\n<li>Be always abounding in the work of the Lord.\u00a0 What are examples of the \u201cwork of the Lord\u201d?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In conclusion, the key question that everyone here must honestly answer is \u201cam I ready?\u201d\u00a0 If the instantaneous moment described in verse 52 were to occur right now, where will you be \u2013 with Jesus on your way to heaven or still on this earth wondering what just happened?<\/p>\n<p>Even if the rapture doesn\u2019t occur right now, this week or this decade, we all still live with the fact that we are human and are not promised another day.\u00a0 Take this opportunity to get your questions answered and trust in Jesus Christ for your salvation if you have never made that decision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1 Corinthians 15:50-58 There are probably some Boy Scouts in our class today, so answer this question \u2013 What is the Boy Scout motto?
