Have you ever listened intently to someone begin to ramble on and on and on\u2026to the extent that you begin to think \u201cWhat’s the point?\u201d\u00a0 Your brain is searching for a fixing point that connects all these perceived, or real, random words.\u00a0 Ironically, the question can be both offensive and helpful and directive if asked.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, life many times feels like a bunch of random thoughts, actions, emotions, and words that can get viewed as random chaos, wondering ideals, ironic tragedy, and bursts of joy and blessing.\u00a0 Life can seem pretty pointless sometimes.<\/p>\n

So what is the point?\u00a0 What is life all about?<\/p>\n

Francis Chan put it this way in his book Crazy Love<\/a>:\u00a0 \u201cThe point of your life is to point to Him\u201d <\/strong><\/em>(p.44).<\/p>\n

Here are a few of God\u2019s own words that demonstrate the point being made:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments<\/em><\/strong>, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” (Ecc. 12:13-14)<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God<\/em><\/strong>. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved.” (1 Cor. 10:31-33)<\/p>\n

He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong> Him all things were created<\/em><\/strong>, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities\u2014all things were created <\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong>through Him and for him<\/em><\/strong>. And <\/em><\/strong>H<\/em><\/strong>e is before all things, and in Him all things <\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong>hold together<\/em><\/strong>.” (Col 1:15-17).<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all about Jesus.\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing how, when we get this point, the randomness of life is brought into perspective.<\/p>\n

I assume you have experienced various \u201clight-bulb moments\u201d in life.\u00a0 Whether in a classroom, a relationship, a work environment, an accomplishment, or a failure, life is full of \u201cAha\u201d moments\u2026kind of like the small child that sounds out letters and realizes he just said a word.\u00a0 \u201cGetting it\u201d makes all the difference.\u00a0 Applying what you learn in the \u201caha\u201d moment then changes one\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

So, how are you doing at understanding and living the reality that glorifying God and telling others about who Jesus is and what He has done for mankind is the point of your existence?\u00a0 You are here to enjoy Him, live for Him, and tell others about Him.<\/p>\n
