As November is wrapping up, we have been challenged by the topic of stewardship that has been diligently taught this month by our pastors at Faith Church. This month has been a wonderful reminder of how God calls us to live our lives in order to further His kingdom with everything He has given to us.
Today, we will wrap up our blog series concerning the 4 Key Principles of Stewardship. But before we tackle this final principle, let’s review all four:
At Faith Church, we are taught 4 Key Principles of Stewardship:
- God owns everything, you own nothing.
- God entrusts you with everything you have.
- You can either increase or diminish what God has given you; God wants you to increase it.
- You can be called into account at any time, and it may be today.
With each of the Key Principles in mind, let’s dive into the final installment in our series.
In 1 Corinthians 3, the apostle Paul gives a good analogy of the impact our choices make in eternity. He writes, “According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” (v. 10-15)
It is clear that the Word of God teaches that in eternity, we will give an account for how we lived the lives the Lord entrusted to us. Were we seeking to build God’s kingdom, or our own? How did we spend our time, energies, and passions? These are convicting and humbling questions, but the reality is that we do not know when we will enter into eternity. It could be any time, and could even be today. We are all “just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” (James 4:14) Therefore, may we live kingdom-minded lives of passion for the Lord and His glorious, saving gospel!

We were created to serve the Lord, and there is so much peace, joy, and freedom in a life that is truly desiring to please Him above all else.
