What We Do: Intern Training Part 3

We hope you have been able to learn more about our internship program through our last few blogs posts. Our interns are a huge blessing to us, and there are many ways they sacrificially serve that many are not aware of. We hope that by sharing some of the inside-scoop of the internship, you will be prompted to be praying for our interns and also will spread the word about this opportunity for women to serve and learn with us for a whole year!

To wrap up this 3-part blog on the internship, we would like to share one more opportunity that our interns have to receive great training.

When a woman applied for our internship program, one of the things she is normally most wanting to learn is about Biblical Counseling, and how to help others who are struggling with very difficult issues with the Word of God. This training and experience is something we strive to provide for our interns, so each intern is allowed to sit in on counseling sessions with our residents. Many have the opportunity to follow a counseling case with the same resident from start to finish, and this is an awesome opportunity for them to see the effectiveness of the gospel and the Word of God first-hand as they witness the growth and change in the lives of our residents. Our counselors take time to discuss the sessions with the intern sit-in to answer questions explain the direction in which they are taking their counselees. This counseling observation is also very helpful for our interns who are seeking to become Certified Biblical Counselors through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, as part of their requirements involves observing counseling sessions.

We hope and pray that our interns finish their commitment having grown in many areas both practically and personally, and most importantly, to have grown to become more like Christ. What we have shared is only a few of the many things our interns are able to be involved in with us. If you would like more information about our internship program, contact Annie Martin at amartin@faithlafayette.org.

Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
