Race for Hope Update: Across the Finish Line!

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all who participated in this year’s Race for Hope! Many of you served as volunteers at registration, pre-race prep, post-race tear down, and all that is involved in race setup. Others of you participated by running and walking. We had nearly 300 participants this year. Still others participated by donating, praying for this event, and encouraging the runners and walkers. Special thanks to the Faith Youth Group serving on the “4:12 Missions Trip” for manning the race course and encouraging the runners. They were a huge blessing. We are grateful beyond words for all of your support!

The weather was superb and only began to get really hot once the Race ended. There were no injuries or dehydrated persons!

Our sheriffs and medical team including nurses, EMTs, and athletic trainers were fantastic people balancing kindness and professionalism. Our Race Committee, led by Kirk Fatool of Faith Bible Seminary and Jen Faulkner of VOH, organized the event extremely well. Special thanks to Julianne Doman and Lucas Leite for their work on that committee, too. Johnny Kjaer, Randy and Heather Watts, and Jason and Nicole Hume sacrificed for the event to go as well as it did in leading by example and organizing the Faith Youth Group.

Our financial goal for this year’s Race was $45,000, and by God’s grace we were able to exceed that goal by reaching $48,513.00! More importantly than even that, we were able to tell those in our community how God’s word is powerful to transform lives and how He does that at Vision of Hope by His mercy and grace.

We couldn’t have done it without all of your support and prayers, so thank you. We are so thankful that God was able to use us in this way – to God be the glory!

Bethany Dunn
Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
