Surrender: Faith’s Story!

At the beginning of January, we welcomed a whole new team of interns to VOH. Each one has already been a blessing to our residents and staff team, and we are so excited to see them grow not only practically in leadership and discipleship skills, but also personally in their relationship with the Lord.

For the past couple of weeks, we have been able to introduce you to some of our new interns. Hearing their stories of how God has gotten a hold of their lives has been so encouraging. Today, we will hear from yet another one of our new interns, Faith! Faith came to us from Durham, North Carolina. Her cheerful, servant’s spirit has been such a blessing to us, and we are so thankful to be able to work with her throughout this year. We hope you enjoy her encouraging story of God’s work in her life!

“I grew up in a Christian home and went to church all of my life. When I was 6, I had made a profession of faith, but I did not have a clear understanding of the gospel, my sin, or Christ’s work on the cross. I grew up playing the part of a Christian, yet my heart was far from the Lord which became evident in my teen years. I began to reject the teaching that my mother had worked so hard to instill in me and I turned to my own way in rebellion. However, at age 16, filled with nothing but emptiness, the Lord grabbed a hold of my heart through His Word and I surrendered my will, desires, and life to the Lord.

I heard about VOH during my senior year of college. I majored in Biblical counseling and was introduced to a lot of materials from Faith Church through my major. Because of all that I was learning through Faith, it sparked my interest and I wanted to see more of what was going on here. Through that, I stumbled upon the internship and decided that it would be something that I could learn a lot from.

While I’m here, I’m excited about learning how to love those who are hurting with the same love that Christ loves me. I want to learn how to have purposeful conversations and truly minister to people that the Lord brings my way.

In the future, I would love to work on a college campus and be an influence for students and have opportunities to disciple them.”

Thank you for sharing with us, Faith! Stay tuned for our next redemptive story from one of our interns.

Bethany Dunn
Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
