Freeing Truth: Part 8

We hope you have been encouraged thus far by the Truth-filled testimonies that have been shared in this blog series! How awesome it has been to hear how so many people are being set free by the Truths of the Word of God.

And it truly is freeing. Ladies come to us in bondage to sin, feeling as if they have no power or ability to say no to the enslaving, life-dominating habits they have found themselves caught in. But that’s where Truth steps in to offer freedom! The truth is that Jesus Christ has made a way out of temptations, and we do not have to live in bondage to sin!

1 Corinthians 10:13 states that “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” We serve a faithful God who has promised that He has provided a way of escape for every temptation through the power of Jesus Christ and His work on the cross! Now THAT’S serious freedom!

One of our residents shared with me her experience with this freeing Truth. She stated:

The truth that has set me free is that Christ is committed to my daily death. That is, each day God gives me the opportunity to die to myself and serve Him. He is totally committed to my sanctification, so I must ask myself, am I trekking with Him, or am I trying to go my own way?

1 Corinthians 10:13 has become a truth that has given me much freedom. God is faithful to provide for me a way of escape from temptation, and He will never give me more than I can handle in His strength that He is faithful to provide. I am no longer a slave to sin, because God has promised to help me through it. I do not have to sin. When I remember these truths, I know that temptation does not have to overpower me!”

Amen! We are free!

Bethany Dunn
Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
