Freeing Truth: Part 3

We serve a God who provides for His children. In fact, one of the names of God is Jehovah Jireh – The Lord Provider! Philippians 4:19 states, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” What an amazing promise! For those who have placed their trust in Christ as their Lord and Savior, we can live confidently, knowing that we have a great God Who will take care of us!

This truth is powerful, and impacts our lives daily. One of our staff members, Jen, shared with me what she has been learning about God’s provision, and how this truth has impacted her:

Over the summer I have been studying Abraham’s life in Genesis, as well as finishing a biography of George Muller, a man of great prayer and faith from the 19th century. I have been continually reminded of God’s great faithfulness through these different studies and readings. God’s Word is true and He is sure to keep his promises to care for His children. Even when Abraham doubted God or when circumstances looked bleak for Muller, God was faithful.

I face challenges to my faith, though generally on a much smaller scale than what Abraham or Muller faced. The truth of God’s faithfulness is a daily reminder (and also conviction) that I can walk by faith and trust every promise and command in God’s Word as good and true.

Instead of worrying about the daily circumstances of life, such as health, money, relationships, work, etc., the truth about God’s faithfulness sets me free to lean on him. I don’t have to figure things out by my own effort or according to my own wisdom, but can instead grow in prayerfully depending on him through challenging and even overwhelming issues. I am free to love and trust God, rather then enslaved by fear and anxiety.”

How freeing indeed to know that we don’t have to live our lives in worry, but instead we can be confident in God’s ability to provide! Keep checking in for more encouraging truths in the weeks to come!

Bethany Dunn
Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
