Resource Friday: Strengthening Your Marriage

Broken marriage relationships are very common in our culture. More and more often, people are viewing marriage as an unnecessary commitment that only leads to disappointment and pain. We live in a world where the divorce rate is 50% and it is not uncommon for an individual to have been married multiple times. We hear that the Bible teaches that marriage is good and a blessing, but if that is the case, why are there so many broken hearts and broken families from marriages that did not last?

When thinking about marriage, it is so important that we look closely at what the Bible has to say. If the Bible does teach that marriage is a good thing, then surely God has revealed how a good, lasting marriage ought to function! The fact is that God, in His infinite grace, has indeed revealed these things in His Word, and that’s what Wayne Mack seeks to make known in his book, Strengthening Your Marriage.

In this helpful book, Mack takes his readers through the structure of marriage that God has established in His Word. Defining marriage biblically is the first step, but Mack doesn’t stop there. Tackling specific issues such as the husband’s and wife’s roles in marriage, communication, financial struggles, physical intimacy, and parenting, this books provides a great, well-rounded start for anyone who would like to  know more about what it looks like to have a God-honoring marriage that lasts. This resource is used in the counseling training that is available through Faith Church, and has been an awesome help for counselors and counselees alike.

Marriage can be an amazing, lasting blessing, if the husband and wife are seeking to do things God’s way. Strengthening Your Marriage will start you and your spouse off on a path to a sweeter, more fulfilling marriage, as you learn to glorify God and become more like Christ. Bethany Dunn
Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
