Resource Friday: Crazy Busy

We live in a busy world. With work, school, marriage, parenting, volunteering – the list goes on and on – and we can find ourselves in over our heads in all of the responsibilities to which we have committed. So, how is a person to juggle everything without neglecting what is most important? How did we become so busy in the first place, and does this indicate something deeper going on in our hearts? These questions and more are what Kevin Deyoung seeks to answer in his book, Crazy Busy.

Crazy Busy is a small book written for a busy world. This book is small for a reason; Deyoung truly understands the struggle to find time to handle all of life’s responsibilities, let alone to read a book! In fact, in this book, Deyoung candidly shares, “Some books are written because the author knows something people need to know. Others because the author has seen something people should see. I’m writing this book to figure out things I don’t know and to work on change I have not yet seen. More than any other book I’ve worked on, this one is for me.”

Deyoung does a fabulous job of helping his readers understand the reasons why they may be so busy, and the dangers behind those reasons. Getting to the heart of the problem, Deyoung offers hope and help, as he ends by looking into the story of Mary and Martha, encouraging his readers not to take on too much in their lives at the expense of what really matters.

Our busy lives can become overwhelming, and this little book does a great job of helping its readers think through how to balance their lives in a way that pleases our Savior. If you would like to purchase a copy of this great resource, click here!

Bethany Dunn
Bethany heard about Vision of Hope while attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. When she began praying about what God wanted her to do after graduating, He kept bringing Vision of Hope to her mind. Knowing that there was an internship available, Bethany applied, was accepted, and began her internship with VOH in July, 2012. Since then she has been amazed at the opportunities God has given her to learn more about His Word and how it applies to everyday life. Bethany now serves on staff at Vision of Hope.
