Faith Kids @ Home: February 3, 2013

The following lesson was taught in our children’s Sunday School classes on Sunday, February 3.  We would encourage you to use the ideas below to review Sunday’s lesson with your family.

Elijah and the Prophets of Baal

Passage:  1 Kings 17:1; 18:17–46

Principle:  God’s supremacy is demonstrated through humble obedience.

Praise:  “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”

Prompt:  Ask your child these questions:

  • Why did Elijah call the Israelites and priests of Baal to Mount Carmel?
  • How was God glorified through the events on Mount Carmel?

Practice:  Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:

  • By trusting that God answers the prayers of the righteous (James 5:16–18).
  • By demonstrating God’s supremacy by submitting to and worshiping Him.

This Week:  As a family, read selected portions of 1 Kings 17:1; 18:17–46.

Next Week:  2 Kings 18–19

Memory Verse:  James 5:16b
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”
