Seasonal Prep for Families

Growing up in Houston, I had very little appreciation for the seasons.  That’s because the weather in that part of the country is the same every day for ten months of the year–highs in the 90’s with 100% humidity.

However, after living in Indiana for over a decade, I’ve gained a healthy respect for the way seasons impact our lives.  Each new season brings different conditions and requires different planning.

There are certain things you have to do at the same time each year to prepare for the next season.  And if you fail to do those things, you can be caught off guard easily.

That’s certainly true of this season.  Late summer is a time when our thoughts ought to turn to the start of the school year.  In many ways, the launch of fall classes is like New Year’s in our country.

It’s a time when personal priorities are set.  It’s the time when family schedules and routines are established.  This is also a time when many families consider getting into church.

We need to get ready to reach these families, and we have to help our kids get ready too.  Here’s a link with some seasonal encouragements for parents to help them prepare their families for the fall.
